A restless fio-fio, a bird of the forest, is fascinated by the circus show that a strange fox puts on in the middle of the greenery. But the tightrope walkers, musicians and dancers dressed in colorful costumes are nothing compared to the crush he gets from the talented fio-fio. Then begins an adventure in which the love-struck little bird will have to show all his skills and strength to be loyal to his feelings. A beautiful story, narrated with poetry and with a precise dose of humor and closeness, which could well identify those who begin to feel “butterflies in the belly” and all those things they say happen when love begins.

The Unexpected Forest was written and illustrated by Claudia Blin, with the collaboration of the researcher of the Cape Horn International Center, CHIC Rocio Jara, who shared with me her research on the behaviors and migratory route of the Fio-fio, inspiring me to create this fictional story for children from 6 years old.

Un inquieto fío-fío, ave del bosque, se fascina con el espectáculo circense que un extraño zorro despliega en medio de la verdura. Pero los equilibristas, músicos y bailarines vestidos de colores no serán nada comparados con el flechazo que le produce la talentosa fío-fío. Empezará entonces una aventura en que el enamorado pajarillo deberá demostrar todas sus habilidades y su fortaleza para ser leal a sus sentimientos. Un cuento hermoso, narrado con poesía y con una dosis precisa de humor y cercanía, que bien podría identificar a quienes empiezan a sentir “mariposas en la guata” y todas esas cosas que dicen que suceden cuando empieza el amor.

El bosque inesperado fue escrito e ilustrado por Claudia Blin, con la colaboración de la investigadora del Centro Internacional Cabo de Hornos, CHIC Rocío Jara, quien compartió conmigo sus investigaciones sobre los comportamientos y la ruta migratoria que realizan los Fío-fio, inspirándome a crear esta historia de ficción para niñes desde 6 años.
